CAIA Condemns Canadian Government for defunding pro-Palestinian Organizations
Submitted by jenny on February 21, 2010 - 2:05pmThe Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid (CAIA) condemns in the strongest terms the recent actions of the Canadian government to defund and slander various pro-Palestinian organizations. In what looks like a full-fledged war that the Harper Government has declared on everything and everyone related to Palestine, the Harper Government continues to cut funding and restrict the limits of legitimate speech about human rights especially when it come to Palestinian human rights.

On December 31st, 2009 the largest-ever international delegation will hold a massive non-violent demonstration aimed at breaking the illegal Israeli blockade of Gaza, marching from Gaza into Israel.
Standing in solidarity with them, and expressing our desire to end the occupation on the anniversary of the Gaza Massacre- we will be holding a demonstration in downtown Toronto!!!

Israeli arrests of Palestinian human rights activists aim at stopping grassroots activism and the global call for Israeli accountability in front of international courts and through boycott, divestment and sanction (BDS) campaigns. Stop the Wall has therefore called on people all over the world to join the Global BDS Marathon on October 16 and 17 to let Israel know: “If you want to arrest the BDS movement, you have to catch us all!”
Free Mohammad Othman, Palestinian prisoner of conscience
Submitted by jenny on October 8, 2009 - 12:21pmOn September 22, Mohammad Othman was arrested by soldiers on the Allenby Bridge Crossing, at the Jordan-Palestine border. He is being held in administrative detention as a prisoner of conscience, arrested solely for his human rights advocacy work. The charges against him have not been made clear - his detention has now been extended twice - once by 10 days and as of October 8th, by 12 more. He is being held in solitary confinement at Kishon detention centre.
